The Women Development Cell (WDC) of Darul Uloom Arabic College, Vazhakkad, in collaboration with Vazhakkad Grama Panchayath Jagratha Samithi, conducted a Legal Rights Awareness Workshop on 4th December 2025 as part of the global UNiTE Campaign to End Violence Against Women. The programme aimed to educate students about various forms of violence occurring in society and to familiarize them with the legal protections and governmental support systems available for victims.
The session began with a graceful welcome speech by WDC student member Ms. Shahlath, who highlighted the relevance of the programme in the present social context and expressed gratitude to the Panchayath for their collaboration.
The programme was presided over by Ms. Shaniba K P, WDC Coordinator, who emphasized the need for awareness on legal rights, especially among young students. The official inauguration was delivered by Dr. I. P. Abdus Salam, Principal, who stressed the importance of informed citizenship and gender sensitization in building a safe and just society.
The chief guest and resource person, Adv. Najad P, (District and Sessions Court, Kozhikode) delivered an insightful and engaging session. He explained the various types of violence prevalent in society, including domestic violence, cyber harassment, emotional and psychological abuse, and community-level threats. He also elaborated on the legal remedies available to victims, the procedures for filing complaints, and the support systems offered by the government, such as helplines, protection services, counseling facilities, and legal aid. His talk was highly informative and encouraged students to be aware, responsible, and proactive in protecting themselves and supporting others.

All three appreciated the efforts of the Women Development Cell and emphasized the importance of legal literacy among youth.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource person, Panchayath representatives, guests, faculty members, and students for their support and participation.
