Library Orientation

The library orientation program is designed to equip students with the necessary skills for locating and utilizing information. It is typically held for new students at the start of each academic year.

Objectives of the Library Orientation Program

Book exhibition

A book exhibition encourages students to read by providing them with a wide range of books to explore before making their reading choices. Our book fairs offer an even broader selection, as we source books from various publishers. It also gives teachers the opportunity to view and purchase books they may want for their classrooms. The Daurl Uloom Arabic Library is organizing a book exhibition, where all recently acquired books on literature, children’s books, education, short stories, journals, and more will be showcased.

Best Reader award

The Best Library User Award was introduced to promote reading habits among students. To encourage efficient use of library resources and services, the award has been presented annually since the 2014-2015 academic year. One student from the undergraduate (UG) and one from the postgraduate (PG) program are selected based on statistical data, book circulation, reading habits, utilization of library resources, discipline, and feedback from the Library Advisory Committee. This award is presented each year on the occasion of World Reader’s Day.

Literary Activities

In order to foster creativity, enhance critical thinking, and develop writing skills among students, the library organizes a variety of Literary Activities. These activities are designed to engage students and encourage them to explore their literary potential. Throughout the year, various events are held that promote active participation and a love for learning.

For instance, National Library Week is celebrated with a series of events that highlight the importance of libraries and reading. During this time, students can take part in competitions such as Quiz Competitions, where they can test their knowledge on various topics, enhancing both their memory and intellect. Additionally, a Reading Competition is held to motivate students to read more and improve their reading comprehension.

Moreover, the library organizes Poem Recitation sessions where students can showcase their appreciation for poetry, as well as develop public speaking and memorization skills. Essay Writing Competitions are also conducted, encouraging students to express their thoughts, ideas, and reflections in written form. These activities not only help in improving writing skills but also stimulate critical thinking and the ability to present arguments effectively.

By participating in these literary activities, students are provided with a platform to hone their skills, broaden their literary horizons, and develop a deeper connection with the world of books and writing.
