BA [Afzal-ul-Ulama] in Arabic

INTRODUCTION

Candidates who have an extra interest in the Arabic language and literature are a good suit for it. Applicants willing to go for further higher studies such as for a Master’s degree can then for research work also are suitable for it. Who wants to become a teacher/lecturer in schools and colleges both on a private and government basis also can go for the course. Those who want to become the preacher and have a plan for settling in Arab countries also take the course

OBJECTIVES

B.A. (Afsal-ul Ulama) in Arabic aims to impart the basics of interpersonal interaction both in Arabic & English, and train the students to communicate in Arabic in selected situations.

DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME

The three-year course follows the choice and credit semester system. There are generally six semesters altogether having two semesters in each academic year.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

Candidates for B.A (Afzal ul ulama) in Arabic shall be required to have passed or acquired eligibility for higher studies in Afzal ul ulama Preliminary examination or any other examination recognized by the university as equivalent thereto.

The criteria for selection of students to the course and regulations regarding the reservation of the seats shall be as per the rules framed by the Government / University from time to time.

EVALUATION

Both internal and external evaluation is carried out using the mark system, the grading on the basis of total marks scored in internal and external examinations will be done by the University for each Course and for each semester, using a 7 point scale indirect grading system as presented in table below.

SCHEME AND SYLLABUS

The detailed scheme and syllabus for each course shall be framed by the Board of Studies concerned and approved by the faculties concerned and Academic Council, University of Calicut based on this Common Regulation.
